Project | The Sister Project

Mill's Family Project

On project day women learned:

  • How too hang and peel and stick wallpaer.
  • How to safely use a miter saw.
  • How to hang peel and stick wallpaper.
  • How to cut board and batten and install it with a level and a brad nailer.
  • How to frame out a window.
  • How to paint and cut in around trim.
  • How to put together a bunk bed.
  • How to stage a room with artwork and other décor.
It was an incredible thing to see students become the teachers within an hour of the project start time

While we came with a plan and a schedule to be able to mix groups up and do rotations, that schedule was quickly abandoned. Women naturally became close friends, worked well to find solutions when they arose, and forged strong teams. Within an hour of being taught a miter saw, group members were seen teaching other women the safety and process of properly using a miter saw in order to keep the project running smoothly.
